The former González Calvillo is now the Mexican office of the Spain-headquartered Pérez-Llorca following their July 2024 merger. It fields an ‘agile, proactive and up-to-date’ banking and finance practice group that is known for handling a broad range of banking and finance matters including commercial lending, acquisition financing, project finance and regulatory banking work. The team is routinely instructed by banks, fintech companies and investment funds. Two partners share leadership of the practice: José Ignacio Rivero Andere, who specialises in financial transactions, regulatory banking mandates, M&A, and capital markets and is praised as a ’market leader and great negotiator’; and Bernardo Reyes Retana K, who takes care of private and public securities offerings, and regularly assists issuers, investors, underwriters and rating agencies. Managing associate and ‘great lawyer’ Jacinto Avalos garners client praise for his ability to ’provide urgent responses like few others’; counsel Alberto Bustamante provides all-round support on finance, M&A, and capital markets transactions and is an additional name to note. Ex-practice co-heads José Victor Torres Gómez and Daniel Guaida left the firm in April 2024, as did counsel Rosa Elena Coto.
