José Ignacio holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, a certificate in Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and a certificate in Structural Matters in Legal Firm Management from Fordham University School of Law in New York. He earned his Bachelor of Laws from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in Mexico City. Additionally, he has been law professor at Escuela Libre de Derecho and Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), two of Mexico's most prestigious academic institutions.
