Bernardo Cremades
Bernardo M. Cremades is senior partner of the Spanish law firm, B. Cremades y Asociados, and a former law professor. His practice is focused on international commercial arbitration and transnational investment disputes. Bernardo M. Cremades has acted as counsel, party-appointed arbitrator and president of arbitral tribunals in more than 400 arbitrations. His professional experience in the field of arbitration includes acting in proceedings under the auspices of all major international arbitration institutions, including the ICC, ICSID, AAA, CRCICA or LCIA as well as “ad hoc” arbitrations. He has particular experience in disputes relating to infrastructure, energy, and the regulation of foreign investment. Bernardo M. Cremades is actively involved in DABs (Dispute Adjudication Boards) as an alternative means of dispute resolution in the construction field.

Bernardo M. Cremades Jr.
Bernardo M. Cremades, Jr., admitted to practice law in Madrid, the State of New York and the District of Columbia, is a partner in the arbitration and litigation group of B. Cremades & Asociados. His practice focuses on investment treaty and international commercial arbitration under the auspices of various arbitral institutions and rules, including the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), and the Inter-American Commercial Arbitration Commission (IACAC). Bernardo also participates in domestic commercial arbitrations under a wide range of arbitral rules. Bernardo regularly represents or advises clients in litigation proceedings in various jurisdictions, with particular emphasis on Spanish, European and U.S. courts. Such litigation proceedings include some of the largest insolvency proceedings in the history of Spain. He has also acted or (co)authored written submissions before, inter alia, the Supreme Court of Spain, the Constitutional Court of Spain, the European Court of Justice, the Supreme Court of the United States of America, the Constitutional Court of Bolivia, the Supreme Court of Panama, the Supreme Court of Costa Rica, as well as before lower courts in these or other jurisdictions (in jurisdictions in which he is not qualified, the legal briefs were signed by a local lawyer). He has also provided legal expert testimony in U.S. courts, U.K. courts and investor-State arbitrations on diverse issues, including matters of Spanish law (both of a substantive and procedural nature). Bernardo has extensive experience in corporate finance matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, structured finance and project finance transactions. Bernardo holds a Law Degree and a Diploma in International Relations from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE) and an LL.M. Degree from New York University School of Law. In addition, he holds an Advanced Professional Certificate from the NYU Pollack Center for Law & Business. Bernardo is author of several academic articles and is a frequent speaker at arbitration events.

Javier Juliani
Javier is a partner in the litigation and arbitration group of B. Cremades & Asociados.  His practice focuses on civil, commercial and corporate disputes, both in the ordinary courts and through arbitration. He has practised as a lawyer in numerous national and international arbitrations, both ad hoc and under the auspices of the major national arbitration institutions (Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Chamber of Commerce "Corte de Arbitraje de Madrid", Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration “Corte CIMA”, Spanish Court of Arbitration or Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Bar Association) and international arbitration institutions (Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce “ICC Court” or the London Court of International Arbitration “LCIA Court”, for example). Javier has also acted as an arbitrator and is currently a permanent arbitrator of the Committee of Experts in the Sports and Entertainment Industry of the Court of Arbitration of the European Arbitration Association. Javier has participated in proceedings related to the following areas: railway, gas, electricity and telecommunications operations and infrastructures, renewable energies, food sector, banking sector, construction sector, public works concessions, hotel sector, environment, foreign export credit insurance, agricultural insurance, advertising, agency, companies, liability of company directors, leases, etc.

José M. López Useros actively participates in investment arbitration proceedings and in international and national commercial arbitration proceedings. His areas of specialisation are construction, engineering, banking, transport, real estate and corporate law. He also advises on domestic litigation.

Patrick T. Byrne
Patrick Byrne,  a dual citizen of the United States and the Republic of Ireland, is a partner in the litigation and arbitration group of B. Cremades & Asociados.  Patrick focuses his practice on international investment treaty and commercial arbitration, as well as international litigation. His experience covers a variety of industries, including oil and gas, renewable energy, major infrastructure projects, real estate, banking, construction and mining, under various arbitral institutions and rules. In 2022 Patrick helped to obtain a $15 billion award against Malaysia on behalf of the heirs to the Sultan of Sulu, the largest unconsolidated award in arbitral history. Patrick regularly represents clients in cross-border disputes in U.S. courts, including litigation against foreign states, enforcement proceedings for foreign arbitral awards and Section 1782 discovery proceedings. He also handles international sport disputes before the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) and the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Rodrigo Cortés Calvo’s practice focuses on domestic and international ad hoc and institutional commercial arbitration before various international institutions (ICC, LCIA, ICSID, TAS-CAS, CAM…) and legal representation before different courts in matters regarding arbitration (setting aside and enforcement of awards, appointments of arbitrators, precautionary measures, exequatur proceedings in Spain of foreign awards and arbitrator responsibility). Rodrigo has also intervened in a variety of arbitrations before different legal bodies, mainly regarding regulated sectors, corporate law, breaches of contract, settlement claims, data protection, construction, the hotel sector and agentship.
