Abbe is regularly instructed in both defence and prosecution work; as leading and junior counsel. This work includes cases of armed robbery, arson, serious violence, large scale drug trafficking, serious and complex fraud, as well as a whole range of sex offences. As a grade 3 prosecutor, she has conducted several multi-handed trials, and has appeared as junior counsel in several high-profile cases. Abbe is used to dealing with factually complex cases, that often involve the use of expert evidence. When defending, she has successfully challenged and won cases in which the prosecution heavily relied on expert evidence. Advising on applications to the Criminal Cases Review Commission are one of Abbe’s specialties. She has dealt with a large volume of Appeals against both conviction and sentence. These have involved cases of murder, armed robbery, GBH and large-scale drug importations. Throughout her practice, Abbe has represented many private clients - securing acquittals in prosecutions for serious sexual, violent, and road traffic offences. Similarly, where Defendants have opted not to contest the charges, she has represented private clients at sentencing hearings for large scale drugs importations, sex offences and offences of dishonesty – securing very favourable sentences on their behalf.

Although called to the Bar in 2003, Danny has been working in the criminal justice system since he qualified as a police station representative in 2000. He has a reputation for being able to quickly put clients at ease and make them feel comfortable with every stage of proceedings from pre-charge onwards. This approach has earned him praise for the way in which he has dealt with young and vulnerable defendants. His strategic thinking and thorough preparation have enabled him to find the best way through the most challenging of cases. Danny has represented defendants charged with a variety of offences including murder, kidnap, serious sexual offences and large-scale multi handed drug distribution. He has represented youths charged with serious offences including murder, s.18 GBH and armed robbery. Within the arena of financial crime he has represented defendants charged with offences under the proceeds of crime act and offences of fraud including cyber fraud, defrauding banks and boiler room fraud, he also has experience of obtaining a certificate of inadequacy in the high court. ‍

Balvinder Bhatti

Balvinder is a defence specialist. She has a reputation for working hard and achieving excellent results for her lay clients. Andrew Bousfield

Andrew Bousfield is a senior junior specialising in only the most serious crime, POCA/money laundering and the interaction between employment law and criminal allegations. He is well respected by Judges and will take on cases of forensic complexity. Andrew draws on his background as an investigative journalist and can provide strategic advice on evidence collection and building a case. Andrew has conducted secondments at CPS London, CPS Proceeds of Crime Unit, and HMRC’s criminal investigation team focussed on Illicit Finance. Andrew is an expert in the interaction between employment law (whistleblowing) and criminal law, and in duties that companies and public bodies have to report. Andrew has acted in several multi-week high profile employment tribunals against public bodies and investment banks (often subject to media attention). A list of those cases are below. In serious crime, Andrew often takes on cases with complex psychiatric evidence. Andrew has completed three further education courses in Abnormal Psychology and Personality Psychology at Oxford University, with a dissertation on the use of the diagnosis of personality sisorder diagnosis in the criminal justice system (sentencing, fitness to plead, false allegations). Before coming to the Bar, Andrew was an award-winning investigative journalist for Private Eye. He won the Paul Foot award jointly for an investigation into bribery on military contracts in Saudi Arabia, which involved tracing money flows through offshore jurisdictions and company registers. The matter was prosecuted by the SFO in 2022 (R v. Mason v. Cook). Andrew also published a long-term investigation into Russians laundering corrupt money through the UK, using deniable LLP structures and offshore shadow directors. Finally, Andrew was runner-up for the Martha Gellhorn award with Dr Phil Hammond (MD) for a special eight-page investigation into the treatment of whistleblowers in the NHS and the damage to patient care and use of gagging clauses, “Shoot the Messenger”. Prior to that Andrew also worked as an editorial lawyer for several newspaper groups (The Sun, The Mirror, The Independent) providing advice on libel, privacy and public interest defence, and urgent High Court injunctions (the footballer superinjunction period). John qualified as a barrister after two and a half decades working as a police station representative. His practice covers the full range of criminal defence work, but he has particular interests in working with vulnerable defendants and juveniles and in protest law. As well as his significant publicly funded practice, John takes on work from privately paying clients which he uses to support his pro bono work with those who cannot afford representation. Erin Kitson-Parker

In 2017, Erin obtained a First Class Honours degree and Masters in Law at Northumbria University. Erin completed the BPTC throughout her degree and attained a Very Competent. Peter Moulson KC

During his career as Silk; Peter has been instructed in lengthy, complex, joint-enterprise murder and manslaughter cases for the Prosecution and Defence. He has prosecuted and defended in multi-defendant international and domestic conspiracy cases. He has appeared in homicide cases involving loss of self-control, self-defence, abnormality of mental functioning, and cases involving complex medical-causation issues. He has defended regularly in multi defendant cases involving “cut – throat”defences. He is very well versed in the analysis and presentation of complex telephone evidence and able to challenge attribution and other evidence relating to the seizure and alleged use of electronic devices. Peter has defended in lengthy complex cases involving spousal and other familial homicide and in many “one punch manslaughter” cases. He has prosecuted and defended in numerous joint enterprise knife-crime homicides. Additionally, in February 2017 Peter was leading Counsel for the Prosecution in a multi defendant motor – manslaughter “cash for crash” case. Paul Spreadborough

Having been called to the Bar in 2002 Paul spent many years practising in courts across England and Wales, before moving from London to the South West of England in 2018.
