Adam Killip
DQ
Associate Director. Adam’s practice encompasses a broad range of corporate, commercial and regulatory work including corporate acquisitions and sales, banking and finance transactions, shareholder disputes and insolvency matters. From a regulatory perspective, Adam regularly advises clients on their legal obligations under financial services legislation and has experience assisting clients with enforcement action being taken by the financial services regulator. Adam also advises on data protection queries, including in relation to the EU General Data Protection Regulation or ‘GDPR’.  Adam is an accredited Data Protection Practitioner. Adam’s specialist areas of practice are: corporate acquisitions and sales, banking and finance deals, Fintech and digital technologies, regulatory enforcement and data protection. Adam is also an Isle of Man Notary Public.

Catherine French

Associate Director. Catherine advises on all aspects of private client work. Catherine is also familiar with tax compliance laws (including those relating to Economic Substance, FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard) and those relating to transparency (the Trust Registration Service, Beneficial Ownership and the Register of Overseas Entities).

Associate Director. Donna advises a wide range of international and local institutional clients in relation to non-contentious commercial, shipping and trust related matters. Donna is a Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public in the Isle of Man.  Donna’s specialist areas of practice are corporate law, shipping and trust and private client.

Greg has experience in all areas of UK and Isle of Man personal and corporate taxation but specialises in private client matters, especially capital taxation, trusts, residence and domicile, double tax treaties, and liaising/ negotiating with tax authorities on disclosure issues. His clients include local and international high net worth individuals, companies, trusts and corporate service providers. Greg has been involved over the years in various tax strategy groups and working parties and is a frequent contributor to the business press and speaker at tax-related events both on and off the Isle of Man.

Associate. Jessica is able to assist and advise clients in a number of areas, including high-value corporate and commercial litigation, employment issues, personal injury and clinical negligence and debt recovery. Jessica’s commercial litigation practice has seen her act for a number of onshore and offshore clients from large CSPs to small partnerships. Jessica works with clients to find appropriate and effective resolutions including utilising alternative dispute resolution such as mediation. In her employment practice, Jessica advises both employers and employees in contentious and non-contentious matters. Jessica was complimented for her “targeted and concise advocacy” when she successfully obtained an injunction for a Consultant who had been suspended from his position. Jessica also regularly advises on non-contentious issues such as contracts and policies for employers and settlement agreements.

Kim Emery

Senior Associate. Kim’s areas of specialism include banking and finance matters (acting for financial institutions, private lenders and corporate borrowers), mergers and acquisitions, legal due diligence reviews and opinions relating to cross border property transactions, in addition to advising on general corporate law matters. Currently the Chair of the Isle of Man Chartered Institute of Personnel Development and being dual qualified as a human resource professional, Kim also has an expertise in employment matters. As such, Kim advises on all matters of employment and HR ranging from reviews of contracts and staff handbooks to advice with regards to best practice, dismissals, redundancies and executive level settlement agreements.

Lizzie was commissioned as a Manx Advocate in November 2023 and is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team.

Director. Since qualifying as a Manx Advocate in 2012 Mark has regularly appeared at all levels of the Isle of Man High Court of Justice. Mark practices a wide range of commercial litigation, but has particular experience in commercial disputes, corporate insolvency, banking litigation, applications for injunctive relief, enforcing foreign judgments and advising on contentious issues of employment, data protection and trust law.

Rachel is currently practising as an associate in the Corporate and Commercial department where she advises on general corporate related matters, including drafting legal opinions and commercial documentation.
Ruth Costain

Ruth has appeared before all levels of the Isle of Man High Court and has a diverse range of experience in civil, commercial and public law litigation including:- commercial disputes; applications for injunctive relief; personal injury, professional negligence and medical negligence; human rights; and doleance claims. Ruth also has experience of advising in bankruptcy and liquidation matters, in particular in respect of recognition of foreign office holders and enforcement of foreign judgments.
