Attorney  Aryanah joined Magrath Sheldrick’s US Immigration team as a US Attorney in April 2022. She has several years of high-volume experience advising on US visa matters and guides clients of all sizes across a number of sectors, including financial services, professional services, information technology, energy, communications, publishing, media, the arts, and entertainment. Aryanah currently provides a wide range of US immigration advice to corporate and individual clients, on topics relating to family and employment-based immigrant and non-immigrant visa matters. This entails filings and communications with USCIS, CBP, and the US Department of State. Most common filings include: E-2 Treaty Investors L-1 Intracompany Transferees (executive, manager, or specialized knowledge), H-1B Specialty Occupation (including H-1B Cap), O-1 Extraordinary Ability or Achievement, I Representatives of Foreign Media, TN USMCA (previously NAFTA) Professionals, B-1/2 Short Term Business or Tourism, and Family-based Immigrant Visa (Green Card) Applications.

Managing Partner Ben is head of the immigration department of Magrath Sheldrick LLP, and the firm’s Managing Partner. The firm provides advice and assistance to major multinational companies and individuals of all nationalities seeking work authorisation, skilled worker visas, family reunion and UK entry clearance. Ben is particularly focused on the financial services sector, acting as immigration counsel to major City institutions. He has experience in strategic immigration planning for large organisations and assists international assignment departments and human resources managers in developing compliance and legal right-to-work policies. Ben speaks regularly at major immigration conferences including the International Bar Association (IBA), British American Business (BAB) and Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA). He sits on the Immigration and Citizenship committee of the American Bar Association (ABA). Ben is co-editor of the Corporate Immigration Review, an annual publication addressing immigration developments around the world. He is also technical partner for immigration to the Expat-Academy. Ben is Managing Director of Magrath Sheldrick (Global) Pte. Limited in Singapore.

Partner  Focusing primarily on corporate immigration Joanne advises and assists many HR departments to determine their immigration needs for both existing and new hires into the business. All individuals are then assisted through the entire immigration process by Joanne and her team. Joanne provides holistic support with all Sponsor Licence matters, which includes training, assistance with record keeping and Home Office audits. She will always consider strategic solutions for businesses to ensure compliance with strict Home Office requirements, whilst ensuring the business needs can be met, often exploring alternative immigration categories. Specialities include the Sponsorship and the Skilled Worker Scheme, European Settlement Applications, Indefinite Leave to Remain and Naturalisation. Joanne is an active member of the Immigration Law Practitioners Association and British American Business. Joanne was also nominated for Women in Law Award in 2020 and Client Choice Award in 2021.

Senior Associate Provides high-level advice to businesses in a variety of sectors regarding employee-related immigration, assisting Companies with their initial sponsor licence application, plus providing ongoing guidance and support in meeting their compliance obligations. Guides HR personnel through the necessary UKVI requirements to satisfy right-to-work checks, ensuring appropriate processes are in place to enable suitable monitoring of their sponsored employees; relevant reporting is undertaken and prepare businesses for visits from UKVI. Supports both business and individuals with their Sponsored UK visas under the Skilled Worker and Global Business Mobility routes under Company sponsorship. Advises private clients with complex naturalisation and registration applications for British Citizenship, plus tailored. Supports private clients with family cases, including ancestry, Appendix FM and EUSS applications.

Associate Lucy joined the Employment Department as a Solicitor in March 2017, having completed her training contract at Magrath Sheldrick LLP. Lucy advises employers and employees on both contentious and non-contentious matters. She advises employers on grievance, disciplinary and redundancy processes. She has experience of advising on and drafting documentation for businesses such as Settlement Agreements, Contracts of Employment and Staff Handbooks. On contentious matters Lucy has experience of a wide range of employment law litigation in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal, and the Court of Appeal, including claims involving unfair dismissal, discrimination and whistleblowing.

Partner Maria advises individuals and organisations on contentious and non-contentious employment matters across a wide range of sectors including financial services, IT, healthcare and the arts. She works alongside business owners and legal and HR teams providing pragmatic guidance on the full range of employment disputes, including complex grievance and disciplinary matters often involving allegations of discrimination and whistleblowing. Her practice also includes frequently advising clients on redundancy and TUPE matters.

Associate Nina provides advice to both companies and individuals on all aspects of employment law, in particular on how to manage and resolve the day-to-day employment issues that can arise in the workplace.  Nina's clients benefit from her experience acting on behalf of both individuals and companies in a range of sectors including theatre, start-ups, financial services, and technology. Nina advises employers on disciplinary issues, performance and capability, disability and ill health of employees, redundancy, as well as employment tribunal litigation.  Reviews and prepares internal documentation for employers such as handbooks, policies and procedures, contracts, and settlement agreements.  Nina supports individuals through disciplinary and grievance processes and advise a wide range of matters, such as unfair dismissal and discrimination concerns. This often leads to assisting employees in negotiated exits. Provides advice and support on data protection matters that flow from employment relationships, such as data subject access requests and data transfer agreements.
