Alexandra Minkovich
Alexandra Minkovich is a partner in Baker McKenzie's North American Tax Practice with more than twenty years of experience handling a variety of tax, tax controversy, and legislative and regulatory matters. She also brings significant experience representing clients with respect to domestic tax issues, particularly in the life sciences, pharmaceutical, retail, and manufacturing industries, and is well versed in administrative law. Immediately prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Minkovich served as Associate Tax Legislative Counsel with the US Department of Treasury, Office of Tax Policy. In that role, Ms. Minkovich advised the Assistant Secretary (Tax Policy) and General Counsel regarding tax policy considerations in regulations and Internal Revenue Bulletin guidance, provided advice on tax legislative proposals, and provided litigation advice regarding the validity of Treasury and IRS guidance. She also provided technical comments on tax legislation to the Senate Committee on Finance and the House Ways & Means Committee, as well as to individual members’ offices. Alison Stafford Powell
Alison Stafford Powell chairs the North America Trade Compliance team. She has considerable experience counseling US and non-US companies on managing trade compliance in the areas of export controls, trade and financial sanctions and US anti-boycott laws. As a dual-qualified lawyer, she provides practical advice to help non-US companies reconcile US and foreign trade regulations and on the extra-territorial impact of US trade restrictions. Alysha Preston is an associate in the Firm’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. Andrew Riccio
L Andrew S. Riccio is a partner in the New York office and co-chair of Baker McKenzie's North American International Arbitration Group. Andrew represents clients in international and domestic disputes in federal and state courts throughout the U.S., as well as arbitrations before institutional (ICC, ICDR, LCIA, JAMS, AAA, ICSID, HKIAC) and ad hoc tribunals. Andrew also has experience litigating contested matters arising in the restructuring and insolvency context in bankruptcy courts. Angélique Poret-Kahn
Angélique Poret-Kahn is a Global Equity Services associate in the Firm's Chicago office. Before transferring to the Chicago office, Mrs. Poret-Kahn practiced in the New York office and was a member of the Banking, Finance & Major Projects Practice Group and advised US- and European-based issuers, private equity firms, hedge funds, broker-dealers and asset managers on purchases and sales of securities, regulatory issues and disclosure obligations under the various EU Directives and Regulations. She also advised foreign and US banks and investment advisers on product offerings and equity investments in the US. Mrs. Poret-Kahn has significant knowledge in the global custody areas as she has advised major banks acting as global custodians in implementing and developing regulatory compliance programs. Angélique is recognized by Legal 500 USA as being “active across employee reward grants and stock option grants for international employees.”

Barbara Klementz
Barbara Klementz is the chair of Baker McKenzie’s North American Compensation Practice. She has practiced in the area of global equity and executive compensation for over 20 years. Barbara has authored several articles on global equity issues for the BNA Executive Compensation Journal, Journal of Corporate Taxation and San Francisco and Los Angeles Daily Journal, among others, and she is a contributor to a blog on global equity related topics called the Compensation Connection. She is also a frequent speaker on a variety of global equity topics. Barbara is a Thomson Reuters Stand-out Lawyer for 2024 and recognized as a ranked practitioner by Legal 500 for Employee Benefits: Transactional and by Chambers USA. Ben Turner is Of Counsel in Baker McKenzie's Los Angeles office and is a member of the Firm's North American Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice Group. Brian Hengesbaugh
Brian Hengesbaugh is chair of Baker McKenzie's Global Data Privacy and Security Business Unit, chair of the North America IPTech Practice Group, and a member of the Firm's Global IP Tech Steering Committee. Formerly special counsel to the general counsel of the US Department of Commerce, Brian played a key role in the development and implementation of the US Government’s domestic and international policy in the area of privacy and electronic commerce. In particular, he served on the core team that negotiated the US-EU Safe Harbor Privacy Arrangement (Safe Harbor), and earned a Medal Award from the US Department of Commerce for this service. In addition, Brian participated on behalf of the United States in the development of a draft Council of Europe Treaty on Cyber Crime, and in the negotiation of a draft Hague Convention on Jurisdiction and the Recognition of Foreign Judgments. Brian Whisler
Brian Whisler is a senior leader in the Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice, and has previously served as Chair of the DC Litigation and Government Enforcement Practice Group. He is a member of the Global Compliance and Investigations, Dispute Resolution and Health Care and Life Sciences Practice Groups. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Brian served for fifteen years as a federal prosecutor with the US Department of Justice. During that time, he was the Criminal Chief Assistant US Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia, Richmond, overseeing and prosecuting cases ranging from white collar crime, violent crime, public corruption, and terrorism. His trial practice focused predominantly on white collar cases, including health care fraud, securities fraud, public corruption, money laundering and tax fraud. He previously served as an Assistant US Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina for ten years, where he focused on white collar prosecutions and received the Attorney General’s Award for his prosecutions in a money laundering investigation resulting in convictions of more than 25 defendants after three jury trials and multiple guilty pleas. He also served as Chief of Appeals and Health Care Fraud Coordinator for the same jurisdiction. Brian has also served as adjunct professor at the University of Richmond, TC Williams School of Law and an instructor at the National Advocacy Center for the US Justice Department in Columbia, South Carolina.
Brian Burke
Brian Burke is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Washington, DC office. He draws on over 20 years of experience to counsel clients on all federal antitrust issues. He assists clients in successfully navigating the merger clearance process before the US as well as international antitrust authorities. Brian also has extensive experience advising clients on civil and criminal governmental antitrust investigations, commercial antitrust litigation, antitrust compliance programs, risk assessments, and pricing and distribution policies. Brian holds multiple leadership positions in the Firm. Chandri Navarro
Chandri Navarro is senior counsel in the Firm's International Commercial & Trade Practice Group, based in Washington DC. Chandri has extensive experience advising companies, multinationals, trade associations and governments on customs and trade law and policy, trade compliance matters, free trade negotiations, litigation and legislation. Chandri helps clients resolve trade issues before US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Office of the US Trade Representative, Department of Commerce (DOC), US Congress and the Court of International Trade. Chandri joined Baker McKenzie after leading the US Customs practice as a partner in another global law firm.
Christine Streatfeild
Christine Streatfeild is a Partner in the Washington DC Office and on the Steering Committee for the North America Trade Secrets Practice. She focuses on trade remedies and unfair competition cases, including forced labor investigations, antidumping and countervailing duty cases, safeguard measures, duties imposed for national security purposes (Section 232 duties), and Section 337 intellectual property and trade secrets disputes. She appears before the US International Trade Commission (ITC), US Department of Commerce (DOC), and in state and federal courts. Prior to joining Baker McKenzie, Christine served as the acting deputy director of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) and in the Environment and Natural Resources division of the Office of the United States Trade Representative. She has also served as an adjunct professor at the Krieger School, Johns Hopkins University, where she taught Global Trade, Policy and Competition. She is also on the 2021 USMCA Dispute Settlement Panels Roster (on behalf of the United States), a position she has held since 2019 (under the NAFTA). Christine focuses her practice on matters related to trade regulatory and intellectual property matters, including economic injury and damages, import duty compliance, and unfair competition allegations.

Creighton Macy

Cynthia Cole
Cynthia J. Cole is Chair of Baker McKenzie’s Global Commercial, Tech and Transactions Business Unit, a member of the Firm’s global Commercial, Data, IP and Trade (CDIT) practice group steering Committee and Co-chair of Baker Women California. A former CEO and General Counsel, just before joining the Firm, Cynthia was Deputy Department Chair of the Corporate Section in the California offices of Baker Botts where she built the technology transactions and data privacy practice. Cyrus Vance
Cyrus Vance Jr. has earned a well-deserved international reputation as a trial attorney with a proven track record in high-stake litigation and global investigations. Daniel Rosen
Daniel A. Rosen is a senior counsel in the North America Tax Practice Group in New York. He is a seasoned tax lawyer with over 16 years of experience with the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Rosen was a key participant in the drafting of published guidance and administrative directives involving judicial doctrines for the IRS Large Business and International Division (LB&I). He served as IRS counsel in many cases that resulted in published opinions and is a frequent speaker for George Washington University School of Law, the Practising Law Institute, Tax Executives Institute and the ABA. Additionally, Mr. Rosen served during law school as business editor of the Hofstra Law Review. He is an adjunct professor of law at New York Law School.

David Davis
David Davis handles a wide range of matters relating to various aspects of intellectual property law, including prosecution before the US Patent and Trademark Office, international intellectual property coordination, counseling and prosecution, managing the intellectual property aspects of mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions, drafting of intellectual property license agreements and resolving domain name, social media and other internet-related conflicts. Mr. Davis has also worked on numerous IP matters in several federal, district and appellate courts. He has written and spoken extensively on issues relating to various aspects of intellectual property law and has been quoted on a number of occasions in the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and co-authored an article in the Trademark Reporter.
David Hackett
David Hackett advises senior management, legal departments and boards of major corporations and nonprofits on compliance, risk, environmental and sustainability matters. He has exceptional experience managing US and international compliance and environmental projects, including the evaluation and development of effective compliance and sustainability programs. He also has extensive experience litigating major civil and criminal environmental matters. David sits on multiple nonprofit boards and additionally advises many civic and nonprofit organizations across the globe. Denise Glagau
Denise Glagau is the Managing Partner of Baker McKenzie's California offices in San Francisco, Palo Alto and Los Angeles and a member of the North America Employment and Compensation practice. Mark A. Oates is listed in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Transfer Pricing Advisers. He has litigated many high profile cases won by taxpayers in the last decade, and has actively consulted on other prominent cases. He has also handled various international tax litigation cases involving issues in tax treaty interpretation, Subpart F and foreign tax credit — and a host of domestic issues in mergers and acquisitions, leveraged buy-out, valuations, research credit, inventory and civil fraud. Rod Hunter
Rod Hunter, a partner based in the Washington, DC office of Baker McKenzie, practices trade and investment law. He previously served as Special Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs and senior director for international economics at the National Security Council (NSC), the White House office that coordinates trade policy and supervises CFIUS. In that role, he managed CFIUS cases, including negotiating resolution of the most sensitive cases. A recognized expert in the field, he has testified before Congress during the legislative process leading to recent amendments to CFIUS’ authorizing legislation. Previously, in addition to coordinating U.S. trade policy at the White House’s NSC, he served as senior counsel at the US Trade Representative’s office, where he litigated cases before the World Trade Organization. Stephen Long
Stephen's practice focuses on multistate tax issues. He successfully handles complex state and local tax matters across the US, including tax controversy, transactional, and planning matters, for some of the largest companies in the world. He has deep experience with variety of state and local taxes, including corporate income tax, sales and use tax, gross receipts taxes, and oil production tax. He regularly represents clients during audit, through administrative appeals, and if necessary, in court. He has successfully helped clients resolve thorny state tax issues in a multitude of states and has a particular focus on the taxes and appeals system in Texas. He also helps clients manage the state and local tax impact of major acquisitions, dispositions, and combinations in transactions that often feature international as well as domestic tax aspects. While many of his clients are large multinational companies, Stephen also represents high net worth individuals with individual tax issues, such as domicile and residency issues.

Steven Sandretto is a partner in Baker McKenzie's Transactional Practice Group and is based in the New York office.
