Firms To Watch: International arbitration

In November 2023, Alston & Bird LLP’s London international arbitration team was bolstered when commercial and investment arbitration expert Will Hooker joined from Pallas Partners LLP. Hooker acts in arbitrations under the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, LMAA, ICSID, LAMC and UNCITRAL rules, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations.
Gateley Legal’s international arbitration group is co-led by international arbitration specialists Michael Lightfoot and Kieran John McCarthy, who were recruited as partners in September 2023 from Clifford Chance LLP.
In October 2023, Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP hired Maurice Kenton and Simon Schooling from Clyde & Co. Focused on the energy and natural resources sectors, Kenton’s track record encompasses arbitrations under the ICC, LCIA and UNCITRAL rules, while Schooling is experienced in both international investment and commercial arbitrations.
Mantle Law is a specialist law firm that focuses on arbitration and litigation in the construction, infrastructure and energy sectors. In November 2023, the practice recruited Alexander Slade from Mishcon de Reya LLP; Slade is an expert in energy and energy-related construction disputes.
Paxus LLP was launched in 2022 by Suzanne Spears, former partner of legacy firm Allen & Overy LLP, who acts in the arbitration of cutting-edge areas, such as climate and human rights-related commercial and investment disputes. In June 2024, the boutique firm hired Merryl Lawry-White, whose track record includes an abundance of commercial and investment treaty arbitrations.
