Adriana has over twenty years of experience in customs and foreign trade matters. She joined Baker McKenzie in 2001, became National Partner in 2005 and a Principal in 2018. She has prior experience working as legal director of Rules of Origin, Customs Procedures and Safeguards in the Mexican Ministry of Economy where she participated in the negotiation of several free trade agreements (FTAs) and in the first dispute settlement resolution cases initiated by Mexico against the US under the NAFTA. Adriana has been ranked a leading practitioner by Chambers and Partners at Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America as well as Legal 500 for eleven consecutive years. She was an associate in our Guadalajara and Washington, D.C. offices and currently Heads the Firm’s North America International Commercial Practice Group in Mexico City.

Alfonso Curiel Valtierra has more than 10 years of experience in commercial litigation, often representing public entities and private companies. He was granted with specialization diplomas in financial law and civil and commercial procedural law by Universidad Panamericana. Also, Mr. Curiel-Valtierra has written and published several articles regarding relevant legal provisions in commercial and public law and participated in diverse forums in connection with commercial and financial law as well as insolvency and bankruptcy proceedings.
Alfonso Cortez-Fernández
Alfonso Cortez is a member of the Litigation and Government Enforcement Steering Committee for North America and Chair of that practice at the five Mexican offices. He has over 25 years of experience. Also he is highly regarded in a wide range of litigation and arbitration matters. He has been a professor in the law department of the Universidad Cervantina, and is a member of the international law fraternity Phi Delta Phi. He has been first vice president of the National Association of Corporate Lawyers (ANADE-NL), was coordinator of the Constitutional Rights Commission of the Mexican Bar Association, Nuevo Leon Section (BMA – NL), as well as counselor in the steering committee of the BMA – NL.

Alfonso focuses his practice on financial technology (Fintech), regulatory compliance and real estate finance (including syndicated loan facilities). He regularly advises Fintech companies (local as well as multinationals) on regulatory and transactional matters, including e-wallet platforms, crowdfunding entities, online lending B2B platforms, digital banks, card payment processors (aggregators and acquirers), cryptocurrency exchanges and comparison product and services platforms. He also works on the negotiation of loan facilities, and their security interest documents.

Alina de la Luz is an associate in the Firm's Antitrust Practice Group in Mexico. Prior to joining the Antitrust Practice Group at the Firm, she was part of the Mexican competition authority (Federal Economic Competition Commission), as part of the investigating authority. With more than 8 years of experience in economic competition, mainly in abuse of dominance and analysis of competition conditions, she has conducted investigations in several markets: financial, energy, ports, digital, telecommunications, and transportation, among others. Likewise, she was head of the economic competition subject at UNAM and has taught about competition in several forums.

Benjamín Torres is the leader for Baker McKenzie's Energy, Mining & Infrastructure (EMI) and Projects Practice Group in Latin America and Mexico. He is recognized as "Highly Regarded Lawyer" by IFLR, and is also listed as a recommended lawyer by Who's Who Legal for oil, gas, and project finance in Mexico. He is recognized as one of the country's leading lawyers in the energy and natural resources area (Band 1) by Chambers and LEGAL 500.  Benjamin has been named "Lawyer of the Year" for Energy and Natural Resources by The Legal 500 at the 2023 Mexico Awards. This award recognizes the leading legal players from private practice and in-house who have contributed to the Mexican and global market. For several years, he has been acknowledged by the magazine Petróleo & Energía as one of the top 100 leaders in Mexico's energy industry and he currently serves in its Editorial Board. Additionally, in 2021, Benjamin was awarded the recognition of "Stand Lawyer" during the Stellar Performance Stand Out Talent Survey of Acritas and Chambers Latin America. Benjamin chairs the Membership Committee of the Association of International Energy Negotiators (formerly AIPN) and serves in its Executive Committee. He also was President of the Energy Committee in AmCham Mexico during 2018 through 2021. Carlo Pérez-Arizti is a transactional partner in Baker McKenzie's Mexico City office, and previously worked in the Firm's New York City office. Carlo mainly advises on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, corporate and contractual law, foreign investment and brand expansion matters. Carlo is also a member of Baker McKenzie's North America Innovation Committee. Carlos is a partner in Baker McKenzie's North America Intellectual Property Practice Group. He provides strategic consulting on copyright, distinctive signs, domain names, trade secrets protection, unfair competition prevention, branding, advertising and protection in the digital environment, and privacy issues litigation. Carlos also implements and develops anti-piracy actions, handling undercover investigations and operations against intellectual property rights counterfeiting matters.

Daniel Villanueva Plasencia is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group at Baker McKenzie Guadalajara. With over 15 years of experience, he specializes in data privacy, information security, and cybersecurity matters. His expertise extends to regulatory issues related to information technologies and consumer protection, as well as intellectual and industrial property – with a particular focus on digital environments, including the use and licensing of trademarks, patents, and copyrights. Daniel holds the Certified Information Privacy Administrator (CIPM) recognition from the International Association of Privacy Professionals. In 2022, Daniel was honored with the Innovation and Best Practices in Data Protection award by the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data (INAI). Additionally, Daniel, obtained a certification as an Artificial Intelligence Compliance Officer from NYCE. Prior to joining the Firm, Daniel was a founding partner at a local firm in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Daniel has extensive experience in foreign trade and customs matters. He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, Asociación de Industrias Maquiladoras y Manufactureras de Occidente (Index de Occidente), Consejo Nacional de la Industria Maquiladora y Manufacturera (Index Nacional), the American Chamber of Commerce. Federico has been practicing law since 1988, and currently chairs the environmental and climate law practice in Mexico. He specializes in providing advice to clients to comply with legal requirements in the area of environmental impact, air emissions, water and wastewater, hazardous and non-hazardous waste and occupational health and safety. His practice also includes emissions trading, REDD+ projects and administrative and civil litigation. Hugo López Miranda joined Baker McKenzie Mexico as a partner in the International Commercial and Trade practice group in the Monterrey office. Hugo is a law professional with over 15 years of experience in customs law, international trade and taxation. Jorge Ambriz Cuevas is a partner in Baker McKenzie’s Foreign Trade and Customs Practice Group in Juarez. Prior to joining the Firm, he was an associate and later an acting director in the trade and customs group of a prominent law firm in Mexico. He was also a manager and later senior manager in a Big Four accounting firm’s trade and customs practice. Jorge has also served as director of foreign trade and customs audit in the headquarters of Mexico’s Internal Revenue Service, and worked in the Ministry of Economy’s Trade Department.

Jorge has 17 years of professional experience and is a partner of Baker McKenzie's Tax Practice Group. He joined the Firm in 2003. He is experienced in tax litigation, administrative, legal protection, and tax planning, since he has broad experience in the constitutionality of tax laws and taxpayers' defense against the actions of the tax and administrative authorities in the exercise of their review and enforcement powers. Before joining the Firm, Jorge was an in-house lawyer in GNP (Grupo Nacional Provincial, S.A.) and was an auxiliary attorney for the Seventh Civil Judge in the State of Nuevo Leon.

Pepe is the National Managing Partner in Mexico. He is recognized as a leading practitioner in real estate law by Chambers Latin America. Juan Carlos Valles is a Partner from the Tax Practice Group, he regularly advises clients in the areas of international tax planning, permanent establishment, taxation of non-residents, cross-border transactions, corporate taxes, flat tax and value added tax. Valles previously worked as a member of the Firm’s Foreign Trade and Customs Practice Group for several years, where he assisted several companies on Mexico’s network of free trade agreements and other legal matters related to the international trade regulation and customs legislation.

Juan Carlos Guerra joined the Firm in 2007, and his practice and expertise is mainly focused in real estate, mining, agrarian, infrastructure and project finance transactions, including structuring and financing of real estate developments of industrial, commercial tourist and residential nature. Likewise, he offers advice and consulting on public tenders, trusts, construction, mining, foreign investment, financial and credit operations. Juan Carlos also continuously works and supports various Mexican and foreign technology companies (soft-tech, prop-tech, fin-tech and others) in their day-to-day operations in Mexico, including structuring and implementing funding and capitalization through public and private investors. Juan Carlos is an expert translator from English to Spanish and vice versa, authorized by the Supreme Court for the State of Jalisco.

Marina Hurtado leads the Baker McKenzie's patent practice in Mexico. With more than fifteen years of experience handling sophisticated intellectual property matters, she advises on a broad range of areas, including prosecution, licensing, and litigation of patents, utility models, industrial designs and trade secrets. In addition to this, Marina has extensive experience in areas of life sciences, advertising and consumer laws, as well as in patent linkage matters that cover the communication between the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property with the local health authority in charge of granting marketing authorizations for pharmaceutical products. In October 2019, Marina was appointed by the secretary of the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs as ad honorem external advisor on intellectual property issues to collaborate in the development of IP public policies in Mexico. In 2023, Marina was appointed as vice president of the IP Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.

Pamela joined Baker McKenzie's Energy, Mining & Infrastructure Practice Group (Projects) in 2016. She has a solid industry expertise, with over four years of experience advising companies in cross-border transactions involving energy and infrastructure projects, mergers and acquisition, project development including regulatory and finance matters, as well as in government contracting. Prior to joining the Firm, Pamela worked in the Banking & Finance Practice, where she acquired experience on project finance and the negotiation of domestic credits, as well as in banking and financial regulatory issues.

Raymundo Enriquez is a senior counsel in Baker McKenzie's Antitrust Practice Group in Mexico City. He was a member of the Firm’s Executive Committee and a previous chairman of the Latin America Regional Council where he also served as the Latin America chair of the Global Diversity and Regional Pro Bono Committees. Mr. Enriquez is recognized as a leading lawyer for competition / antitrust and for business by Chambers Latin America. He served as a board member for several Mexico companies. In addition, he was a visiting lecturer at the Mexican Bar Association and a part-time tax and foreign trade law professor at Universidad Iberoamericana, where he obtained his JD from the university’s School of Law.

Reynaldo Vizcarra Méndez
Reynaldo is a member of the Firm’s Corporate and Transactional Practice Group. He is a professor at the University Anáhuac del Norte where he teaches foreign investment as part of the master of laws program, and an instructor at Universidad Panamericana's Baker McKenzie Seminar. He joined the Mexico City office in 1986, handling foreign investments, banking and finance matters and international agreements. He also worked in the Chicago office's Latin America Practice Group, advising on investments and acquisitions in Latin America (1996-1997). In 2000, Reynaldo co-founded the Firm’s Guadalajara office, where he led the Banking & Finance Practice Group. In August 2005, he transferred to Baker McKenzie's Cancun office as a founding member and director mainly handling tourism and real estate projects. In 2009, he transferred back to the Mexico City office, where he was local managing partner for four years and thereafter became national managing partner of the Firm in Mexico until August 2018.

Ricardo Castro leads as Head of the Employment & Compensation Practice Group in Mexico's Baker McKenzie offices. Ricardo is also a professor of labor law in the business law master’s program of the Universidad de Monterrey, and is also a member of its board of directors. He has been a member of the labor mission in Mexico since 2004, representing the Mexican business sector in Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Singapore, Switzerland and other countries. He lectured on employment-related matters for business and union leaders in the state of Nuevo Leon. Ricardo represents the maquila sector in Mexico before the National Council of the Export Maquila Industry. He also represents businesses before the Mexican Permanent Labor Mission in the International Labor Organization in Geneva, Switzerland.

Maria del Rosario Lombera-González is a partner and member of Baker McKenzie's Employment Practice Group in Mexico City. She was a member of the Mexican Commission of Employers before the International Labour Organization at annual conferences in the Commissions of Social Security and Globalization and Employment, and has participated in several meetings of seasoned practitioners in the field of social security. Rosario joined Baker McKenzie Abogados in 1985 and became a partner in 2005.

Roxana has more than 20 years of professional experience, and is currently a member of the Firm’s Tax Practice Group, which has been recognized as a highly recommended global tax practice by Chambers Global. She is also a member of the Academia de Derecho Fiscal de Nuevo León, A.C and was appointed as a member of the board, acting as the treasurer during 2008-2009 and as advisor during 2015-2016. Veronica is a Partner in Baker McKenzie's International Commercial Practice Group based in Guadalajara. Yuriria Mascott joined Baker McKenzie as a legal consultant in April 2019. Prior to this, she worked as the undersecretary of transportation of the Ministry of Communications and Transport (SCT), appointed by the President of Mexico. She has also worked as the general director of the Mexican Postal Service, has headed up the acquisitions department and supply management of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and has held advisor positions for the Airports and Auxiliary Services Administration (ASA) and the SCT. Yuriria has also worked in several law firms, some of which specialize in criminal law and in aeronautical and corporate law. She was also a member of the Corporate Legal Consortium, S.C.
