Edward Cheng
Edward Cheng
Edward qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2024 and is a member of the Patents team based in the London office.   Edward is a qualified China patent attorney, with extensive experience of patent prosecution in a leading international patent firm in Taiwan. He has previously worked as an IP analyst in a renowned international IP service company in London. Prior to entering his career in patent law, Edward worked as an engineer for Philips, focusing on medical devices including ultrasound imaging systems and cardiovascular apparatuses.   Edward specialises in technical fields including optics, optoelectronics, photoacoustic imaging and Raman spectroscopy, and he also has gained considerable experience in drafting and prosecuting multi-jurisdictional patents across a diverse range of technologies, including electronic and mechanical inventions, semiconductors, lighting and display technology, and physical, virtual & hybrid musical instruments. In addition, he has advised and assisted clients, ranging from SMEs to big-name companies, on a wide variety of patent protection means including patent search, infringement, (in)validity and FTO analyses.

Harry joined Maucher Jenkins in 2024 after gaining experience at various firms in the UK and Ireland. Harry holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, where he researched the properties of novel bent-core liquid crystals using techniques such as polarising microscopy, SAXS, and RAMAN scattering. With extensive experience in patent matters across industries including telecoms, aerospace, holography, energy, and mechanical devices, Harry has advised clients ranging from individual inventors to large multinational corporations on strategy and patent protection.

Stefan joined the patent profession in 2017 and specialises in the filing and prosecution of patents related to electric engineering, semiconductors (e.g. 3D integrated circuits, advanced-note integrated circuits in processor and memory fields), software, cleantech and general engineering. Stefan has a breadth of experience in several jurisdictions and can advise on global filing strategies. Some of the jurisdictions in which Stefan has directly worked with include Europe (at the European Patent Office), the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, Korea and China. Stefan previously worked for Maucher Jenkins between 2017 and 2021, before returning in 2024. In his time away from Maucher Jenkins, Stefan worked at two leading IP firms, including a top US-IP firm where he provided international filing advice to a large multinational licensing client. Stefan has extensive ties to the Middle East, having spent the formative years of his life living and integrating in Kuwait. He maintains his ties in the Gulf and Levant Region and is actively working on his Arabic skills. Stefan’s client work spreads from individual inventors and SMEs to large multinational corporations. Stefan enjoys meeting with innovators in all fields and has a keen eye to discover the next best IP including Patents, Trade Marks and Designs.
