Florent

Bart Jan is specialised in insolvency law and dispute resolution. During his master’s degree course in Commercial Law at the University of Amsterdam, Bart Jan focused in particular on corporate law, financial law and insolvency law.

Chris Jager

Chris is partner of the firm and is specialised in dispute resolution. Chris conducts an extensive national & cross border litigation and arbitration practice, representing companies, investors and banks in commercial and corporate law disputes. Chris likes to act on the intersection of corporate, commercial and insolvency disputes. He is involved in high-profile cases, including inquiry proceedings for the Enterprise Chamber. Chris is the trusted advisor for a number of large corporations. Chris is a trusted advisor of various major corporates. Chris regularly publishes on subjects related to procedural law and is a co-author of the standard work, Groene Serie Kluwer Faillissementsrecht.

Daphne Beunk

Daphne is a member of the dispute resolution and insolvency law practice groups. She advises on and litigates a variety of issues related to the law of obligations, private international law (PIL), business law and insolvency law. She is regularly appointed by the court as receiver in bankruptcies. Daphne is a lecturer at Radboud University. Daphne is an editorial member of the magazine ‘Financiering, Zekerheden en Insolventiepraktijk’ (FIP) and is co-author at the ‘Groene Serie’, commenting the Insolvency regulation (recast) and articles 203-205 Fw. She publishes and is (JOR-) annotator in the field of private international law with a focus on international insolvency law. She is also one of the authors of the Dutch chapter of the ‘Chambers Global Practice Guide on Litigation 2023.

David van Kessel

David specialises in corporate law and focuses on mergers & acquisitions, corporate restructurings, private equity and joint ventures. Furthermore, he advises on corporate law issues and drafting (commercial and corporate) contractual documentation. David was admitted to the Dutch bar in 2007. David's clients include family owned businesses, financial institutions and clients active in the life sciences, health and infrastructure sectors.

Emille Buziau

Emille has gained broad experience in the field of corporate and commercial litigation. He represents shareholders, managing directors, supervisory directors, companies and other stakeholders in a wide range of cases. Varying from M&A litigation, emergency financing and inquiry proceedings to summary proceedings regarding the performance of an agreement. Emille also regularly deals with seizure of evidence, enforcement disputes, disclosure proceedings, and complex procedural law issues. Emille’s services are often engaged at a phase in which proceedings can still be avoided. He is regularly involved, for instance, in settling joint ventures that have come to a head.

Hanneke De Coninck

Hanneke is co-managing partner of the firm and co-head of the Insolvency and Restructuring team. She also has extensive experience in the areas of banking, financing and security rights. Hanneke is regularly appointed by the Amsterdam court as bankruptcy trustee or administrator in high-profile and complex insolvencies. She also works for companies facing financial difficulties or insolvency or their stakeholders. In addition, she regularly represents clients in major (corporate/commercial) litigation inter alia on insolvency related matters such as directors’ and shareholders’liability. Hanneke has a seat on the Insolvency Law Committee of the Netherlands Bar Association (Adviescommissie Insolventierecht), a committee of the Netherlands Bar Association that advises the Minister of Justice on draft bills in the area of insolvency law. She also has a seat on the review committee (Toetsingscommissie) of the Dutch Association of Insolvency Lawyers (INSOLAD) that handles complaints against members and she is a member of the editorial staff of Tijdschrift voor Curatoren (Journal for bankruptcy trustees).

Joris Opstroom

Admitted to the bar in 2013, Joris specializes in insolvency law. He counsels (stakeholders of) businesses faced with (imminent) bankruptcies. Joris also advises his clients on (WHOA) restructurings, securities and directors' liability. Joris is regularly appointed by the District Court of Amsterdam as receiver and has extensive experience in handling large-scale moratoriums and bankruptcies. He is an expert on the Dutch Act on the Confirmation of Private Restructuring Plans (WHOA) and is available to fulfill the role of restructuring expert and observer. He is also one of the authors of the Dutch chapter of the 'Chambers Global Practice Guide on Insolvency 2022'

Joris Oster

Joris Oster specialises in employment law and has over 20 years' experience as a lawyer. Joris advises and litigates on a variety of employment law topics, including dismissals, collective redundancies, investigations, remuneration issues and works council issues.

Jurgen van den Heuvel

Jurgen van den Heuvel is an associate in Florent’s Insolvency and Restructuring team. He advises and litigates in the area of insolvency law and is also regularly appointed by the court as bankruptcy trustee. Aside from insolvency and restructuring, he is also active in matters relating to international asset tracing and recovery and civil fraud litigation. Jurgen is a permanent contributor to the Tijdschrift voor Curatoren (Journal for bankruptcy trustees).

Kees van de Meent

Kees van de Meent is partner of the firm and co-head of the Insolvency and Restructuring team. He is active in restructuring and insolvency, as well as international asset tracing and recovery and civil fraud litigation. He has been involved as bankruptcy trustee for more than 25 years in various high-profile and complex insolvencies. He also acts as counsel to companies facing financial difficulties. In addition he has experience with pre-packs, both as counsel to the company and as court-appointed administrator.

Lidewei Lankreijer

Lidewei was sworn in as a lawyer in 2016 and has been part of the Corporate / M&A team since then. Lidewei specialises in corporate law, focusing in particular on mergers & acquisitions, private equity, governance and commercial contracts. She has a special interest in and experience with purpose and impact-driven investors and companies.

Lisette Smits van Oyen

Lisette was sworn in as a lawyer in 2016 and joined Florent on 1 March 2021. She is a member of the Corporate/M&A team, focusing primarily on M&A transactions and commercial contracts. Lisette also has experience in assisting companies faced with financial difficulties.

Merijn Moeliker

Admitted to the Dutch bar in 2014, Merijn specialises in insolvency law and dispute resolution. He advises and litigates in the fields of insolvency law, restructurings, security interests, commercial contracts and (directors’) liability. Furthermore he regularly advises both lenders and borrowers in (re)financing transactions. He is regularly appointed by the court as receiver in bankruptcies. He is also one of the authors of the Dutch chapter of the 'Chambers Global Practice Guide on Insolvency 2022'.

Pieter van Uchelen

Pieter is a partner and co-heads the corporate/M&A department. He is specialized in corporate law with an emphasis on M&A, private equity and infrastructure transactions. He has over 20 years of experience in these fields.

Pieter van den Brink

Pieter van den Brink is co-managing partner of the firm and co-heads the corporate/M&A department. With over 20 years' experience, he specialises in M&A, private equity, joint ventures, partnerships, participations and advice and contracts in relation to corporate and commercial matters. He has extensive international experience in cross-border transactions. He typically represents national and international large and medium-size companies, shareholders, directors and (private equity) investors in various fields with a focus on food & beverage, retail, industry and business services. Pieter regularly lectures and publishes on corporate law subjects.

Yvette Borrius

Yvette Borrius co-heads the dispute resolution department. With 25 years' experience she specialises in (cross border) corporate dispute resolution and commercial litigation, directors' liability and governance matters, including Enterprise Chamber inquiries. Yvette appears regularly before the courts, representing companies, shareholders, directors and key stakeholders.
